Ireland IPTV on Smart TV: Samsung, LG & Android TV

If you have a Smart TV, you may not need any extra device to watch Ireland IPTV. Most modern TVs can run an IPTV player app directly, which means one remote, no extra box and no extra cables. The exact steps depend on the brand and operating system of your TV.

This guide explains how Ireland IPTV works on the main Smart TV systems sold in Ireland: Samsung Tizen, LG webOS and Android TV or Google TV (used by Sony, Philips, Hisense, TCL and others). It also covers when it makes more sense to add a Firestick instead.

Which Smart TV system do you have?

Press the Home button on your remote and look at the menu:

• Samsung TVs from around 2016 onwards use Tizen.
• LG TVs use webOS, with a row of app cards along the bottom of the screen.
• Sony, Philips, TCL, Hisense and many others use Android TV or Google TV, with the Google Play Store.
• Some Hisense TVs use VIDAA, and some Panasonic TVs use My Home Screen, which have fewer IPTV apps.

Ireland IPTV on Samsung Smart TV

Samsung TVs do not allow apps from outside the Samsung app store, so you use an IPTV player that Samsung has approved. Several are available, and some use your TV's MAC address (a unique device code) instead of a username and password.

1. Press Home on your remote and open Apps.
2. Use the search icon to find the IPTV player named in your welcome email and install it.
3. Open the app. If it shows a MAC address or device key, send it to our support team and we will activate your Ireland IPTV playlist on it.
4. If the app offers Xtream Codes login instead, enter your username, password and server URL.
5. Wait for the channel list to load, then open Live TV.

Ireland IPTV on LG Smart TV

LG webOS works in a very similar way to Samsung. You install an approved IPTV player from the LG Content Store and either log in with Xtream Codes or activate the app using its MAC address.

1. Press Home and open the LG Content Store (or Apps).
2. Search for the player app named in your welcome email and install it.
3. Open the app and note the MAC address or device key if one is shown.
4. Send it to our support team, or log in with your Xtream Codes details if the app supports them.
5. Restart the app and your channels will appear.

Ireland IPTV on Android TV and Google TV

Android TV and Google TV give you the most choice. You can install popular IPTV players directly from the Google Play Store, including apps that are not available on Samsung or LG.

1. Open the Google Play Store on your TV.
2. Search for the recommended player, such as TiviMate or the app named in your welcome email, and install it.
3. Open the app and choose Xtream Codes login.
4. Enter your username, password and server URL and wait for the channels to load.

Smart TV app or Firestick: which is better?

Built-in Smart TV apps are convenient, but they have limits. TV processors are often slower than a modern streaming stick, app choice on Samsung and LG is restricted, and some TV apps are updated less often.

• Use the Smart TV app if your TV is less than about four years old, the menus feel quick and you are happy with the picture.
• Add a Firestick or Android TV box if the TV app is slow, lacks a good TV guide or your TV brand has no suitable IPTV player.

Getting the best picture on a Smart TV

• Connect the TV to the router with an Ethernet cable. Most Smart TVs have a network port on the back.
• If you use Wi-Fi, choose the 5 GHz network and keep the router within sight of the TV where possible.
• Turn off motion smoothing (called Auto Motion Plus, TruMotion or similar) for sport if the picture looks unnatural.
• Use the TV's Sport or Standard picture mode for football and GAA, and Movie or Filmmaker mode for films.
• Keep the TV software updated from the settings menu.

Troubleshooting Ireland IPTV on Smart TVs

The app says “playlist not found”

Your MAC address may not be activated yet, or it was typed incorrectly. Send a photo of the app's start screen to support and we will check it.

Channels play but some show a black screen

Try switching the video player or decoder in the app's settings. Some TVs struggle with particular stream formats, which is often fixed by changing the player setting.

The TV guide is empty
